The rocky Elephant Island rises up from the Southern Ocean, and is home to elephant seals and penguins. Here, you can see the wreckage of a large shipping vessel in Hampson Cove, and the Endurance Memorial Site, which marks British explorer Ernest Shackleton’s eventful journey to the island in 1916.
